Transportation Funding Package 2017

Transportation Funding Package 2017

The California State Legislature is passing a huge transportation funding deal that will raise billions of dollars for roads. Californians need real, sustainable and affordable transportation options.

We appreciate the importance of maintaining our existing road infrastructure, and the urgency to find a funding solution as maintenance costs continue to climb. However, paying for our roads must be balanced with investments in a future transportation system that protects our environment, promotes social and economic justice, and improves our communities.

Email your Senator: Strike a Better Deal for Transportation Justice

California State Senators are voting any day now on Senate Bill 1, a huge transportation funding deal that will raise billions of dollars for roads. While some allocation of the funds will support programs that promote active transportation, for the most part your tax dollars will provide a blank check for the road-building lobby.

Take action now: tell your Senator that our transportation system is for people, not just road builders. We need a guarantee that these billions will serve the people’s needs for safe, affordable, and accessible transportation options.

Your senator needs to hear from you. Email your senator today and demand a more visionary transportation bill. This is an opportunity to express you want bikes, transit, and walking to be better supported in this bill, and that only with substantial consideration for healthy communities and affordable transportation options will this be a truly effective piece of legislation.
